Set up isn't too bad. Provided tools were mediocre so I used my own to speed up the process. Had a few setbacks such as a screw (twice) fall into the wheel cavity in the narrow gap. Also, good idea to TEST the computer before final steps. I found that the power cord was not all the way in and had to re-accomplish those steps. Balancing is still a (slight) issue. Otherwise, for the price, this works. If it were slightly lower (by $50-75) it would be an even better bargain. Some wobble during workout and it's a good idea to clean the rails early on to break in the rollers. Easy to use and performs well.

Setup time was a little over an hour. The setup manual was clearly written and easily understood. Was missing BOTH cotter pins which disappointed me as this is an "attention to detail" issue that manufacturers rest their reputations on.

So far very happy with this machine. It was easy to put together (make sure you have another allen wrench in addition to the one provided) for my son and I. Took about 3 hours to put together. Haven't had much time to work on it yet, but it kicks your butt and gives you a good workout right from the start. The price was good and I shopped around and checked lots of reviews before placing my order.

Use this elliptical to complement my running workout. Excellent endurance and weight loss traning for the home. Only issue I experienced was with screws not fitting properly at the base which resulted in adding 1 - 1.5 hours to assembly time.

Sturdy construction. Quiet, smooth operation. Assembly took a couple of hours. Only drawback was that the correct size Allen (hex) wrench needed to tighten front and rear stabilizers was not provided with the order. I had to purchase one at hardware store to complete assembly.

This elliptical gives you a fantastic work out! I had to use the one at the gym for over 40mins to break a sweat...but on this elliptical, after being on it for 15mins I can feel the burn...lots of program options that give you all levels of workout..BTW the "walk in the park" is really not a "walk in the park" it burns...but you see the results in just a few weeks. I just love it! and I love my husband for buying it for me!

I got the Schwinn 431 three weeks ago. It was easy to assemble and only took a couple of hours. The instruction easy to follow and all the parts were there. The machine was easy to get up going. I use it 5 days week two times a day, it is quiet, smooth and stable. I like the display screen, it is easy to see and use. The machine is a nice size and rolls easy. I am very happy with it!

Great price and good deal(no tax, [...]). Nice unit. I would recommend to everyone. This is the first elliptical I have owned and I rarely used one before. If was challenging to put together. So leave at least 2+ hours to do it. Get your own wrenches and screw drivers. It will go faster. Reviews by others helped me to decide to buy this. Watch your height and the height of your ceiling if you are over 6 ft tall.

A quality product with machined threated tubing for bolt assembly which ensures sturdiness and no squeaks. I assembled by myself without help, so just follow the instructions. It'll do what you want and need for an elliptical. I expect long service from this model. It's very quiet and has a fluid motion for the lower and upper body exercise.

Generally easy to assemble in under two hours with very few set-backs, The machine is extremely quiet and smooth, and can be quite deceptive to how hard you are working out until you start feeling the burn in the legs and chest.

It is not too heavy that it cannot be moved but heavy enough that it feels like professional equipment that won't fall apart anytime soon.

Bought this thing because I realize I'll never go to the gym with the hours I work! Order was easy. My fiance put it together in less than 3 hours and I worked out that night. First thing I noticed was how little space it took up. Next, it's WHISPER quiet! Its extremely smooth and I love the workout programs. While assembling the unit (which was not difficult), I noticed that the tubes used to construct the machine seemed very solid. They use thick steel and oversize bolts to hold it all together... the machine is relatively heavy (not unwieldy like a XBR tube TV) when compared to a threadMill. It requires time and attention to details for it to be installed w/o miscue (e.g. Watch for hex head bolt and non hex-head bolt, watch for the 2 spacers in the addendum) Took me nearly 2 evenings after work (4-5hrs) There are running options for u to choose programs at startup but the positive in using this machine is that it is smooth almost like a breeze, i.e. being generally overwhelmed by the sound of your TV. No squeaking, not woobling, as the sturdiness of the base, and mechanical motion in general are not even anything that catch attention. The fan is dinky not helpful. For a small person less than 5' 5" this machine looms tall, the stride right. this is not a stowed away item, it imposes physically, but one would not regret spending near [$] for it. However for a (eventual) resale this heavy baby out of the box might be a problem.

This machine is not as nice as the pricey models I was used to using in the gym but for my home gym, I couldn't ask for more. My husband and I assembled it ourselves in about 2 hours. After using it several times since receiving, I find that it rides extrememly smooth. The resistance levels are similar to my Schwinn bike in that even the lowest resistance is quite challenging. The only thing I don't like about this elliptical is that you cannot adjust the incline during the workout, only the resistance. Also, the fan is pretty useless. It provides fresh air but doesn't really keep you cool. Overall, I am extremely satisfied with the machine after 2 weeks of usage.

We love this elliptical! It is comparable quality to a professional gym elliptical. There are 6 of us in our family and none of us have a problem with the stride length or smoothness of operation. We've only had the unit a week, so cannot offer in-depth comments, but to date we are pleased with the quiet operation and sturdiness of the product. One thing to know...when attaching the foot bars to the machine, make sure you slide the post in for the feet section underneath first before attaching it to the other section of the leg arm...makes it much easier to put together that way. Also, when putting main section of machine between the back section and the front stabilizer base, do NOT tighten completely until everything has aligned and all screws are in place. We had to keep loosening to make alignments work but we finally got it. Machine is really well made and tried it out yesterday. Little wobbly but nothing like others I have tried and quiet....real quiet. I'm going to like working out on this one.

I've only had this product for two weeks. It took my partner an amateur about 4-5 hrs to put this together.
I'm not one for reading directions so I just hopped on and started experimenting with it until I go the workout I wanted.
Pros: It is user friendly. It has a smooth glide, it's quiet, sturdy base. One can feel save using it. Ive tried others in the retail stores and have felt very unsafe on them.

Cons: The fan on the product doesn't work, I read another review that stated the same issue...they need to work on that to me that is one of the features I really wanted on my elliptical.
The product is bulky I thought it would be smaller so it is not space saver friendly, however I can get over that knowing that I feel safe on it.

This eliptical is a reasonably priced, sturdy, well-built machine. After two months of use, it is as good as the day I bought it. I bought it for my wife who has had pain in her hip while walking. She has always been an avid walker. Now, she uses the eliptical and the pain does not return while on this machine. I highly recommend this eliptical for anyone who wants a low impact machine.

My wife and I use the 431 on a daily basis.
It is great. I love the smooth and lo-impact nature of the elliptical.
Even though it is not the smoothest elliptical out there, it can't be beat for the price. I would have had to spend at least twice the price to get an elliptical that would give me a smoother workout.
It took me a little over 2 hours to put it together. I helped put one together for a Fitness Club over the holidays and it took about 20 minutes. I guess you pay for assembly on the higher priced ones.

Bottom line: You can't go wrong with the 431.

Product only took me two hours to assemble. Very clear instructions and everything you need including tools is provided. The fan did not work when plugging everything in, however I have not had time to determine if it was due to my setup. Otherwise this is a great machine for the price. I love my elliptical. I purchased it about 1 year ago. Its compact with a small footprint. I'm 62 yrs, had backsurgery [fusion L4-5] 30+ years ago so I need very low impact. There is virtually no impact!-I go 45 minutes every 2 days/burn between 570-600 calories and get my heartrate up to 150-160. The aerobics are very good and the programs are easy to use. I go to my garage not to the gym!! Its great for older exercisers who can't run or bike any more. Give it a try!

I am 58 y/o; 6'4" 240#. 30 minutes a day, every day. for the past 3-4 months. Took about 2.5 hrs to setup. Fan not working; all else really great! Keep bolts tight and track clean to minimize noise. Handles my weight well. Ceiling in my house is 8 ft, so no problem w/headroom. Comfortable to use. Good price too. I like it.
